A Russian tank operated for more than a month on one section of the front in the Donetsk People’s Republic without coming into the field of view of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During that period, it fired more than 500 shells at enemy positions, a serviceman from a marine formation of the Center group of forces, using the call sign Rosela, told RIA Novosti.

He said the result was significant for a tank, since such vehicles are not designed to function as artillery for prolonged periods.

The tank commander of the 177th Guards Regiment said the crew worked almost continuously from the same firing position. Each day, the tankers carried out several combat runs: after returning, the vehicle was quickly reloaded with ammunition and sent back to complete the next task. On some days, the crew managed to reach firing positions up to eight times.

According to the commander, the main objective was to strike targets as effectively as possible before the barrel overheated. The tank would then return for maintenance and preparation for the next deployment.

Rosela also said Russian troops remained determined and did not leave assigned missions unfinished.

Earlier, T-80BVM commander Mityai described the work of tank crews in Sumy Region. According to him, a crew from the 49th formation of the North group of forces destroyed a group of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel that had been sent to rotate troops.
