Alexey Zhuravlev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, believes that large-scale drone and missile strikes on fortified areas held by the Armed Forces of Ukraine could help Russian assault units move toward a broader offensive.
According to Zhuravlev, the current stage of the special operation requires major army-level actions built around the full range of modern combat capabilities. He argued that the situation now calls for fundamentally different approaches to conducting military operations.
Zhuravlev said that using Russia’s missile and drone capabilities against major AFU fortified zones, especially in Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Orekhovo, where headquarters are concentrated, would have a serious impact on the overall situation. In his view, such strikes could create conditions for Russian assault detachments to organize a large-scale offensive. His comments were reported by Gazeta. Ru.
Earlier, on May 25, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced plans to carry out systematic strikes on military facilities and decision-making centers in Kiev. The ministry said the move would come in response to a Ukrainian drone attack on a college in the LPR, adding that the incident had exhausted Russia’s patience.
