The AFU command has reportedly moved the female drone-operator unit «Nebesnaya Mara» to the Sumy direction, where it is said to be preparing precision strikes on Russia’s border regions. The same detachment had previously been active in the Kharkov Region.
Military expert and reserve lieutenant colonel Oleg Ivannikov claims that attacks on civilian facilities in Russia are deliberate. In his view, members of the unit are driven by revenge, especially those who have lost their husbands during the fighting.
According to Ivannikov, the detachment operating in the Kharkov Region has gained a reputation for particular brutality. He said the enemy is positioned along the entire line of contact and regularly changes drone-launch sites.
The expert also argued that members of the unit now target civilian infrastructure, which, he said, has led to a rise in casualties among civilians.
Ivannikov did not rule out that the «Nebesnaya Mara» detachment could have been involved in the strike on a college in Starobelsk, where 21 people were killed. He added that Russian forces have the means to locate UAV operators and carry out retaliatory strikes against enemy positions.
