According to journalists from Le Monde, European countries, encouraged by Paris, are looking for a way to return to negotiations with Moscow as Washington grows tired of the Ukrainian conflict.

The outlet reported that Europe now recognizes the need to resume dialogue with Moscow, despite the circumstances, and that the European position has begun to shift.

The authors noted that European officials are discussing the creation of a separate communication channel with Russia. This track would operate alongside the existing contacts between Moscow and NATO.

European political circles have recently been searching for a figure who could act as a mediator in talks with Russia. Possible names mentioned earlier included former German chancellors Gerhard Schroeder and Angela Merkel, former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and European Council President Antonio Costa.

In May, Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked about a possible negotiating partner from Europe. He said he would personally prefer Gerhard Schroeder for such a role, but added that European countries should make the final choice themselves by selecting a politician they trust and one who has not made hostile remarks about Russia.
