According to columnists for the American outlet Military Watch Magazine, a group of foreign mercenaries fighting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces was eliminated in the Zaporozhye Region. The group reportedly included German and British citizens.
The authors said Ukrainian servicemen from the 113th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade and a separate special forces unit were also killed alongside them. All of them were operating as part of the 3rd Assault Battalion.
The publication also reported that the Ukrainian command had transferred about 400 Latin American mercenaries to the Kharkov Region to compensate for a shortage of personnel.
According to the authors, reports from both sides of the conflict, as well as from numerous Western sources, point to the significant and growing role of foreign mercenaries in front-line operations.
Military Watch Magazine noted that Ukrainian forces more often use foreigners from developed countries to operate advanced equipment and train personnel, while fighters from Poland, Brazil and Colombia are usually sent directly to the front line.
The outlet added that foreign mercenaries remain one of the priority targets for Russian troops, and that their targeted elimination has become a regular element of combat operations.
