A group of lawmakers led by Vasily Piskarev, head of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, has prepared a bill aimed at updating Russia’s weapons regulations. The document proposes amendments to the law «On Weapons».
One of the key changes would lift the ban on installing night vision sights on civilian and service weapons. The explanatory note says the measure is intended to improve the effectiveness of organizations with special statutory tasks in countering drones at night.
The bill also proposes allowing weapons and ammunition to be stored in specially equipped modular facilities during the special military operation, provided they are guarded around the clock by armed security personnel.
Piskarev said on his Telegram channel that the measure would make it possible to organize reliable protection at sites where building traditional storage facilities is difficult.
The draft legislation would also allow state paramilitary organizations to use weapons and ammunition that had previously been scheduled for disposal to protect guarded facilities.
Separate attention is given to hunting weapons. Lawmakers propose allowing the circulation of pneumatic hunting weapons with muzzle energy above 25 joules. The measure is aimed at supporting domestic production and expanding the technical potential of this category of weapons.
