Russian air defenses destroyed 3,084 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over the past week, the Russian Defense Ministry said. According to the ministry, 47 guided aerial bombs and 16 rockets from US-made HIMARS multiple-launch systems and Czech-made Vampire systems were also intercepted.
The ministry said that from May 30 to June 5, the Russian Armed Forces carried out one massive strike and six group strikes in response to what it described as Ukrainian terrorist attacks on civilian targets inside Russian territory.
The attacks involved high-precision air-, sea- and ground-launched weapons, as well as strike drones. The Russian Defense Ministry reported hits on Ukrainian military-industrial enterprises, fuel and energy facilities, transport and port infrastructure used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military airfields, drone assembly workshops, and sites used to store and launch unmanned aircraft. Temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries were also targeted, according to the ministry.
Russian troop groupings also reported advances and Ukrainian losses on several fronts.
Units of the Tsentr grouping improved their tactical position over the week and struck enemy manpower, the ministry said. According to its figures, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 2,360 troops, 23 armored combat vehicles, 37 vehicles and 12 artillery guns in that area.
In the area covered by the Yug grouping, Ukrainian losses exceeded 935 troops, the ministry said. It also reported the destruction of a German-made Leopard tank, 23 armored combat vehicles, 103 vehicles, 22 field artillery guns, a Grad multiple-launch rocket system combat vehicle, and eight electronic warfare and counter-battery radar stations.
In the Vostok grouping’s sector, Ukrainian forces lost more than 3,045 troops over the week, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. The ministry also listed 14 armored combat vehicles, 57 vehicles and eight artillery guns among the destroyed equipment.
On the Zapad grouping’s axis, Russian units continued active offensive operations, the ministry said. Ukrainian losses there amounted to more than 1,325 troops, 12 armored combat vehicles, 97 vehicles, a Grad multiple-launch rocket system combat vehicle, 20 field artillery guns and five electronic warfare stations.
In the area of responsibility of the Sever grouping, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 1,355 troops over the week, according to the ministry. The reported equipment losses included two tanks, six armored combat vehicles, 99 vehicles, nine field artillery guns and five electronic warfare stations.
