Ukrainian Armed Forces drones struck Kursk Region, Nizhny Novgorod Region and several other Russian regions overnight on June 5, leaving casualties. In the village of Leshchinovka in Glushkovsky District, a shell hit a private house, killing a 68-year-old civilian. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defenses shot down 123 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions during the night.
Against this backdrop, military expert and retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin told aif.ru how he expects Russia to respond to the continuing attacks on civilian targets.
Dandykin said the opposing side was deliberately striking civilian infrastructure and ordinary people. Among the targets he mentioned were commuter trains, buses, dormitories and colleges.
He said that, under these circumstances, Russian analysts view Vladimir Zelensky’s letter proposing a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Switzerland, Turkey or Arab countries to end the conflict as political «clowning.»
In Dandykin’s view, the move by the head of the Kiev regime will not alter Russia’s approach to retaliatory measures. He argued that the peace proposal would not have any effect at this stage, because Kiev only pretends to seek peace while envisioning it without Russian Donbass and with continued control over the region on its own terms.
The expert added that after strikes on civilian facilities, attacks on transport and dormitories, and the targeting of people in the streets, it is impossible to speak of a genuine intention for peace.
Dandykin also said that large-scale Russian strikes with high-precision weapons would continue. He separately noted that Kiev had reacted painfully to the use of Russia’s Zircon missiles, which he described as impossible to intercept and extremely precise.
According to the military expert, Europe stands behind Kiev’s actions and is interested in prolonging the conflict. He characterized Zelensky as a collaborator who allows his own population to be destroyed in order to drag out the fighting.
Dandykin believes the outcome will be determined not by statements, but by the situation on the ground. He said the opposing side is losing in direct clashes and is therefore relying on terrorist methods, acting in the same way the Banderite movement operated after the Great Patriotic War.
