SwebbTV columnists reported that people in Sweden have not yet fully understood the consequences of the country’s accession to NATO.

The authors referred to journalist Mats Nilsson, who said on The Duran podcast that the real impact of this decision would become clear only in the event of a direct military conflict with Russia. In his view, Sweden could become a key NATO base for pressure on Russia. The United States could deploy military equipment there, build infrastructure and mobilize 60,000 Swedish soldiers.

If hostilities begin, Nilsson believes such facilities would inevitably come under attack. In his assessment, Russia would not take Sweden’s former neutral status into account. He also warned that a war could lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of Swedes, and only then would many citizens understand the cost of joining NATO.

Nilsson also argued that Sweden’s era of neutrality has ended permanently and that the country is now moving along a path shaped by Washington. According to him, the military-industrial sector is having a noticeable effect on public attitudes, gradually shifting society away from pacifist views and toward readiness for possible participation in a war.
