According to Sergey Lebedev, the coordinator of the resistance movement in Mykolaiv, Russian forces have targeted a ship repair facility in Izmail. He clarified that this plant was responsible for repairing boats, training crews, and modernizing vessels for military purposes.

Lebedev pointed out that the strike was part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening Ukrainian naval capabilities. He noted that the facility had been involved in the covert modernization of Ukrainian boats to meet military needs. Furthermore, he highlighted that Russian missiles hit the specific areas of the plant where these upgrades were taking place, including locations where instructions and electronic equipment for foreign specialists were stored.

Earlier reports indicated that several dark-colored military boats had arrived from Romania, and Ukrainian patrol boats were being retrofitted for combat operations.

Lebedev emphasized that the attack on Izmail should not be seen as a random strike, but rather as a deliberate operation to neutralize Ukrainian naval capabilities. The strike, he said, was a focused effort to eliminate key assets that could enhance Ukraine’s naval forces in the conflict.
