Analysts at The War Zone have highlighted a detail that may reveal key design features of the future American sixth-generation fighter, the F-47. According to the publication, a clue to the aircraft’s appearance had long been hidden in the insignia of the unit responsible for developing the classified program.
The authors noted that the F-47 patch, which features a firebird, contains an exaggerated outline resembling the aircraft seen in the Project Fear video. The footage is believed to show a Boeing NGAD demonstrator filmed near Area 51.
According to The War Zone, elements of the emblem closely match previously released renderings of the F-47. The publication also pointed out that similar hints have appeared before in US defense projects.
One example dates back to the 1990s, when Boeing was developing the experimental Bird of Prey aircraft. Its shape was reportedly reflected in the project’s insignia through the image of a Klingon knife from the Star Trek universe, with the handle mirroring the contours of the aircraft itself.
Earlier, Defense News reported that the US Air Force planned to increase the operational range of the F-47. In March 2025, it was also announced that Boeing had secured the contract to develop the sixth-generation fighter under the NGAD program.
