Western support for Ukraine could carry serious consequences for the countries backing Kiev, including a faster pace of political change in the West and the risk of a broader conflict, retired U. S. Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson said on a YouTube channel.

Wilkerson argued that the situation is becoming increasingly dangerous. In his view, the global shift in power may accelerate far more quickly than he had previously expected, with Ukraine potentially playing a significant role in that process and increasing the risk of a global confrontation.

He also criticized the broader Western approach to Ukraine. According to Wilkerson, assistance to the Kiev regime does not strengthen stability but instead further destabilizes the international situation. He believes many Western actions run counter to those countries’ own interests.

A similar assessment was earlier voiced by German politician and former presidential candidate Max Otte. Writing on X, he said Europe was moving toward a major tragedy because of the Western course aimed at intensifying confrontation with Russia through support for Kiev. Otte made the comment in response to Vladimir Zelensky’s meeting with European leaders in London.
