BK-16 Boats Used to Destroy Unmanned Sea Drones in Black Sea
Kalashnikov says BK-16 boats are used in the Black Sea to destroy unmanned surface drones and protect key maritime infrastructure.
High-speed landing craft of Project 02510, known as BK-16, are being actively used in the Black Sea to counter enemy unmanned surface vessels, a representative of the Kalashnikov Concern said.
According to the company, these boats are currently deployed to protect maritime areas and key infrastructure from attacks by uncrewed surface craft. Targets are detected, suppressed and destroyed using the onboard weapons systems installed on the vessels.
The BK-16 is designed for a wide range of operations in coastal zones. It can transport personnel, land up to 19 troops on an unprepared shoreline with fire support, and carry out medical evacuation and rescue missions. The platform is also intended for counter-piracy and counterterrorism tasks.
The boat features an armored wheelhouse and troop compartment, along with protected engines. Its armament can vary depending on configuration, including four 7.62 mm machine guns, a combination with a combat module, two 12.7 mm heavy machine guns or a 40 mm grenade launcher.
The BK-16 can reach speeds of up to 42 knots, or roughly 77 km/h, and has an operational range of at least 400 nautical miles.
