Canadian-made SkyRanger R70 drones that may be supplied to Ukraine can reportedly operate at a range of about 700 to 1,000 kilometers, according to military expert Anatoly Matviychuk.
Speaking to Abzats, Matviychuk said the system resembles Turkey’s Bayraktar tactical strike drone in several design features. He pointed in particular to the rear pusher propeller layout and described the aircraft as a serious unmanned platform.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow had identified the addresses of facilities in Canada where drones are produced for the Ukrainian armed forces and planned to make that information public. She also warned that Ottawa’s involvement in the conflict would not go unanswered.
According to Matviychuk, the SkyRanger R70 drones are being produced for Ukraine under a U.S. license. He said one of their notable features is the use of artificial intelligence elements. In his assessment, a combined operating system allows the drones to function without constant reliance on onboard equipment.
At the same time, the expert said such UAVs can be detected by nearly all Russian air defense forces and systems. He added that drones of this type are used for strikes on industrial and energy infrastructure.
