A video has spread online showing an attempt by a Ukrainian Armed Forces military aircraft to catch up with a Russian missile over an Odessa beach.
The recording was made by a vacationer who was on the beach. According to eyewitnesses, an air raid alert had been declared in the city at that moment. Despite this, many people remained on the shore and continued watching what was happening.
The footage shows a Ukrainian MiG-29 flying at low altitude with a thick smoke trail. After the flyby, the aircraft sharply moves forward and disappears from the frame. Eyewitnesses claim that some vacationers were frightened and began running out of the water.
Coordinator of the Nikolaev underground Sergey Lebedev said the aircraft tried to intercept a Russian missile but failed to do so. All the missiles reached their targets. Lebedev also stressed that the Russian side knows well which airbase the MiG-29 took off from. He believes this airfield should be destroyed, since Western ammunition and foreign fighter jets may be located there.
