Western specialists noticed a new detail on the Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber after a video of its operation was published by the Russian Defense Ministry. This was reported by Military Watch Magazine.

Foreign experts were interested in a fairing located on the fuselage behind the pilot’s cockpit. The publication notes that the available footage does not make it possible to determine exactly what equipment is located under this structure. Satellite communication systems are considered the most likely version, but the possible placement of electronic warfare equipment, an upgraded antenna array or a communications relay is also not ruled out.

Military Watch Magazine writes that if this is indeed about improved satellite communication capabilities, it could noticeably increase the effectiveness of the Su-34. According to the publication, such an element is especially important for maintaining stable communication channels when using precision-guided munitions.
