Sevastopol is preparing to deploy new defense systems in the near future to prevent Ukrainian Armed Forces drones from approaching the coastline, according to a statement by city governor Mikhail Razvozhayev.

He said the increasing number of Ukrainian attacks on Sevastopol was linked to what he described as a mistaken sense of impunity among the Kyiv authorities. In an interview with the Vesti information service, Razvozhayev said this sense of unchecked power would soon come to an end and that measures would be found to keep Ukrainian drones away from the shore. He added that this would happen in the very near future.

City authorities have been reporting Ukrainian UAV raids almost daily. On June 13, Razvozhayev said Sevastopol had faced four aerial attacks. One of the largest strikes took place overnight on June 10, when the fall of a Ukrainian drone caused a fire at the Defense of Sevastopol panorama museum. A significant part of the canvas was lost.

Sevastopol, like the Crimean Peninsula as a whole, has also faced disruptions in fuel supplies. These problems have been linked to UAV strikes on the R-280 Novorossiya highway, which runs through the new regions.

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo had earlier said that a system to counter drones had been created to protect the road. He did not disclose details of how it operates.
