Russian defence industry specialists have developed the Volna Kupol Garant electronic warfare system, designed to suppress Starlink satellite communication channels. The information was published by the Telegram channel Voenny Osvedomitel.
The authors of the post pointed to statements from Kiev about a new Russian system that is already being used in practice. The complex consists of several trailers fitted with satellite dishes placed under radio-transparent domes. Each trailer carries two antennas, which, if needed, can be removed and deployed on the ground.
According to Voenny Osvedomitel, Starlink satellites receive signals from ground terminals in the 14–14.5 GHz range. This band is divided into eight channels. Ukrainian sources claim that eight antennas of the Volna Kupol Garant system, when directed at a satellite, generate interference and disrupt communications.
The report also notes that the new Russian system can interfere with the use of Ukrainian kamikaze drones equipped with Starlink terminals. One such complex is said to cover an area of about 20 square kilometers.
Available information indicates that systems of this type may already be used to protect the Novorossiya highway, which links Crimea with the Rostov region through the «new territories». At the same time, because of its size, the complex is highly visible and therefore requires additional protection from Ukrainian strike weapons.
