Russia’s diplomatic mission in the Netherlands responded to the Dutch side’s plans to create camps for Russian prisoners of war, which the embassy described as «concentration camps.»

The Russian diplomatic mission said that if the European Union decides to unleash a war against Russia, then prisoner camps on the territory of the Netherlands will certainly not be needed.

Earlier, the Dutch authorities reported testing a project for a camp for Russian prisoners of war. The facility, designed for a possible war with Russia, is supposed to hold up to 2,000 prisoners. Local media, in turn, noted that these measures are part of a broader military scenario involving the mass capture of Russian servicemen.

Russian embassy diplomats assessed such initiatives by the Netherlands as anti-Russian and said that such steps by Europeans are taking on an increasingly grotesque form. The diplomatic mission believes that Moscow is seemingly being deliberately tested for patience, while the level of absurdity is being pushed to unimaginable limits.

The embassy stressed that such ideas are difficult to comment on, while recalling that Russia historically has experience in liberating camps in Europe and saving their prisoners from the atrocities of Nazi war criminals. The diplomatic mission also called the very fact that such plans appear in the 21st century deplorable.
