Russia should continue striking Ukrainian forces and naval assets, including sea drones, because Kiev disregards international law and rulings by international courts, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said.

Medvedev made the remarks on Max while commenting on the Hague arbitration ruling in the dispute between Russia and Ukraine over coastal-state rights in Black Sea waters near Crimea, the Kerch Strait and the Azov Sea.

According to Medvedev, Kiev does not respect international law or international judicial decisions and understands only the language of force. He said Russia should draw practical conclusions from this and target Ukraine’s navy, which is being renewed with support from European countries, as well as sea drones and merchant vessels carrying military cargo.

Medvedev also said Moscow should proceed from the assumption that any Ukrainian vessel could be involved in such shipments. He added that strikes on the Armed Forces of Ukraine should continue regardless of their composition or location.

The final ruling in the arbitration case, which lasted ten years, was announced by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. The dispute concerned coastal-state rights in the Kerch Strait, the Azov Sea and the Black Sea waters around Crimea.

The case was heard by a five-member tribunal of independent arbitrators from Algeria, Britain, Mexico, Russia and the Republic of Korea. The ruling in Russia’s favor was adopted unanimously.
