Russian air defenses shot down 157 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on June 17, the Defense Ministry said.
According to the ministry, the drones were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Tula, Oryol, Smolensk, Lipetsk, Tver, Ryazan, Rostov and Astrakhan regions, as well as over the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory, Crimea and the Black Sea.
Drone attacks had continued throughout the previous day. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Moscow time on June 16, air defense units destroyed 40 Ukrainian drones. Earlier, between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., another 151 UAVs were intercepted and downed.
In the Bryansk region, ambulance workers were injured on the evening of June 16. Acting regional governor Yegor Kovalchuk said Ukrainian forces attacked an ambulance in the village of Kvetun in Trubchevsky district as it was responding to a call. A paramedic, a driver and a nurse were wounded.
All three were taken to hospital. The driver and paramedic were admitted for treatment, while the nurse received medical care and was prescribed outpatient treatment. Kovalchuk said more serious consequences were avoided because the driver managed to move the vehicle away from a direct drone strike.
Another attack took place in the village of Churovichi in Klimovsky district. According to the acting Bryansk governor, a kamikaze drone struck a moving civilian car. The driver and a female passenger were injured, taken to hospital and given medical assistance.
In the Belgorod region, the Severny Veter channel reported that a man was killed after an FPV drone attack. Emergency services found his body in the village of Krasnaya Niva in Belgorod district.
