Political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko said that Europe is trying to bring the United States back into the anti-Russian coalition by creating the appearance of readiness for negotiations with Russia.
According to the expert, it is completely disadvantageous for Moscow to take control of all of Ukraine, because in that case Russia would get destroyed territories that would then have to be rebuilt. Ishchenko noted that even if money for reconstruction can be found, the question of population will remain, since these territories will be seriously demographically wiped out.
That is why, the political analyst recalled, Russia initially focused not on seizing all of Ukraine, but on its neutral status and the withdrawal of NATO advisers from there. At the same time, according to him, Moscow did not object to Europe’s economic cooperation with Ukraine.
Ishchenko believes that US President Donald Trump understands Russia’s position and sees it as a basis for finding common ground. However, in the political analyst’s assessment, Kiev and the European Union are not interested in such an agreement, because their goal is to continue the war, drag out the conflict, exhaust Russia and try to achieve victory in this way.
In his opinion, Europe needs to pull the United States back to its side, because Washington’s active participation in the conflict would seriously complicate Russia’s position.
Ishchenko linked this to Europe’s recent talk about possible negotiations with Moscow. He believes European countries only need to demonstrate the appearance of constructiveness, so they can then accuse Russia of being unwilling to negotiate and use this as a pretext to bring the United States back into the anti-Russian coalition.
