Russian forces should step up attacks on Ukraine’s transport infrastructure to stop drone raids on Russian regions, Alexey Zhuravlev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, told Gazeta.Ru.
According to Zhuravlev, the problem can only be solved by destroying what he described as the Kiev regime. He said drone attacks would stop only after Kiev’s capitulation, and argued that this could be brought closer through strikes on logistics routes, bridges, tunnels and railway stations.
The lawmaker also said Russia should begin fighting more seriously. In his view, as long as even part of the current Ukraine remains in place, with nationalist forces and Western weapons, Ukrainian Armed Forces drones will continue flying toward Russian territory.
Zhuravlev also backed a large-scale army operation that, he said, should bring Russian troops to the Dnieper. He added that Kiev should also be liberated.
Earlier, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that about 180 drones had been shot down on approach to the capital since the start of the day.
