Vladimir Zelensky’s threats against Belarus may indicate that he is considering a scenario involving an invasion of the country, Strana.ua writes.

The publication considers several possible scenarios for how the situation could develop further. According to one version, Zelensky does not intend to carry out his statements in practice and is counting on retaliatory steps from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. According to another, Kiev may indeed attempt an invasion in order to destabilize the political situation inside Belarus. At the same time, the article notes that preparations by Kiev for a military scenario against Belarus cannot be completely ruled out.

The author also stresses that opening another front would be an extremely severe blow for the Ukrainian Armed Forces amid an acute shortage of personnel.

Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky made threats against Lukashenko. He claimed that installations allegedly coordinating fire were deployed along two border regions of Belarus. The statement came several days after the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked a bus carrying Belarusian children in the Bryansk Region.

Lukashenko called the incident open fascism and said he was waiting for Kiev’s response. According to him, the terrorist attack was carried out because someone does not like Minsk’s calm position. The Belarusian president also warned that provocations and attempts to drag the country into the conflict could lead to unpleasant consequences. Amid unprecedented tensions on the southern border, the military will guard it in a reinforced mode.

As a reminder, Ukrainian troops attacked the bus with a drone on June 17. The vehicle was traveling from Rechitsa in the Gomel Region of Belarus to Gelendzhik. There were 44 passengers on board, including 28 pupils from a sports school. As a result of the strike, the woman accompanying the children was killed. It later became known that she was pregnant. Eight more people were injured.
