The leader of the political movement France Unbowed, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, sharply criticized the Western strategy allowing Ukraine to use long-range weapons for strikes deep inside Russian territory. In his assessment, such actions intensify escalation and bring the conflict closer to the risk of a full-scale military confrontation.

Speaking on France 2, Mélenchon said that agreeing to Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia is an extremely unreasonable step and leads toward total war. He also noted that the continuation of the conflict serves Washington’s interests, since the United States, in his view, seeks to weaken not only Moscow but also its European allies.

The politician stressed that, in the current geopolitical situation, it is American interests that determine the approach to arms supplies and the choice of military strategy. According to Mélenchon, Washington’s focus solely on its own priorities is gradually exhausting Europe and increasing its dependence on imports of American energy resources.
