Belarusian political circles reacted to Vladimir Zelensky’s threats against Minsk by declaring readiness for a direct military confrontation. Alexey Dzermant, director of the Northern Eurasia center, warned that the risk of an attack by the Kiev regime has become as real as possible, and that Belarus' response must be tough.
According to Dzermant, an attack by Ukrainian nationalists on Belarus is now more realistic than ever. He said that in such a situation, the only response should be unity around the president and readiness to defend the country. Dzermant described those who oppose this position as enemies.
Belarusian parliamentarian Alexander Shpakovsky gave a similar assessment. He urged the republic’s leadership not to waste time on empty negotiations and, if Kiev’s threats are carried out, to deliver an immediate and maximally harsh response.
Shpakovsky stressed that in the event of an attack, Belarus should use all available forces and means, including nuclear weapons. According to him, such a scenario would become a real test of allied agreements. He also noted that this position should be conveyed not so much to Zelensky as to European countries and the United States.
The situation escalated after Vladimir Zelensky issued an ultimatum to Minsk. He threatened strikes on Belarusian territory if Belarus does not remove relay stations from the border within a week, which Kiev claims allegedly help guide Russian drones to targets.
