Russia’s Defense Ministry said units of the Zapad group of forces are actively advancing in the northwestern part of Krasny Liman.

According to the ministry, assault detachments of the 25th Army are moving forward inside the city, which is located in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

The ministry said that over the past 24 hours, servicemen from the 31st and 37th regiments of Russia’s 67th Motor Rifle Division seized 12 Ukrainian strongholds and cleared 53 buildings. During the fighting, more than 30 Ukrainian soldiers were reportedly killed, along with an HMMWV armored vehicle, a pickup truck and four ground robotic systems.

Military Telegram channels report that Krasny Liman is largely surrounded from the north and east. On the western side, Ukrainian forces are still holding a bridgehead and continue attempts to enter the city, but these routes are said to be under Russian artillery and drone fire control.

The situation for Ukrainian troops is further complicated by the need to cross the Oskol River in the west. Bridges and temporary crossings in that area are regularly hit. Experts believe that if the current pace continues, Krasny Liman could fully come under Russian control in the coming weeks, opening the way toward Slavyansk.
