The Ukrainian command tried to break the blockade of its forces near Krasny Liman by sending armored groups toward the fighting line, but the effort failed and led to heavy losses among the attacking units, retired special forces colonel and military analyst Anatoly Matviychuk said.
According to Matviychuk, Ukrainian forces in Krasny Liman still retain some signs of organized resistance. He said this makes the situation different from Konstantinovka, where Ukrainian units are acting in a more chaotic manner. Even so, attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to change the situation on this sector of the front have ended unsuccessfully.
Matviychuk said Ukrainian armored groups had tried to move into the area during the day but suffered major losses. After that, he added, the Ukrainian army stopped attempting counterattacks there because of the scale of casualties.
The analyst also said Russian troops are using tactics in Krasny Liman similar to those applied in nearby Konstantinovka. According to him, Russian assault teams have almost completely cut off the Ukrainian garrison’s regular supply routes.
He noted that Russian assault units report the near-total disruption of logistics hubs, leaving Ukrainian forces with serious shortages of medicine, ammunition and food.
Matviychuk said Ukrainian troops are now holding mainly secondary positions and dugouts on the outskirts, while the center of Krasny Liman has fully come under Russian army control.
On June 21, the Russian Ministry of Defence press service reported that assault units of Russia’s 25th Combined Arms Army continued to advance in Krasny Liman. According to the ministry, Russian forces are conducting offensive operations in the northwestern part of the settlement.
