According to Alexey Zhuravlev, first deputy chairman of the Defense Committee, Western countries are set on continuing the confrontation with Russia and are becoming more deeply involved in it with each passing day.

Zhuravlev pointed to the Storm Shadow missiles that struck Voronezh, noting that they were British-made. In his view, this makes it difficult to argue that London is maintaining neutrality in the conflict.

He said the West aims to weaken Russia and gain control over its natural resources. Zhuravlev also referred to earlier wars with Europe, including the defeats of Napoleon and Hitler, arguing that Russia is once again facing an attempt to destroy it through combined outside pressure.

The deputy described the current situation as a matter of national survival, saying Russia must withstand the confrontation. He also argued that the time has come to strike European factories producing weapons for Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian senator Alexey Pushkov commented on the transfer of long-range missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the provision of airspace for strikes on Russian regions. He said Western countries are moving into a new stage of confrontation with Russia.
