Ukraine’s ambitious «Flamingo» long-range missile program has suffered a severe setback, with production facilities reportedly destroyed in a series of Russian strikes. According to the Ukrainian Telegram channel Resident, citing its own sources, the attacks wiped out several workshops where the new missiles were being built, effectively derailing the project.

The report states that Ukraine’s air defense systems failed to protect the missile plants, and one of the facilities — where the missile had recently been unveiled — was completely destroyed. In response, Ukrainian security services have launched an investigation to determine how Russia obtained the coordinates of the production sites and whether any journalists might have leaked classified information.

The «Flamingo» missile was first presented in mid-August 2025, with officials in Kiev claiming it could reach targets up to 3,000 kilometers away and weighed six tons at launch. Ukrainian authorities also announced plans to produce 50 missiles per month.

However, defense experts quickly pointed out that the design appeared almost identical to Britain’s FP-5 missile. Even before the strikes, media reports suggested that Ukraine was struggling to ramp up production due to severe funding shortages.
