Analysts at the US outlet Military Watch Magazine have pointed to the unique capabilities of the modernized Tu-160M bomber.

According to the authors, the recent upgrade of existing aircraft to the Tu-160M standard, along with the expansion of production for new bombers of this type, increases potential risks for NATO in the event of a possible conflict with Russia. They noted that the aircraft combines high speed with a heavy combat payload, making it one of the longest-range bombers in the world.

The outlet stressed that the Tu-160M can strike targets while staying beyond the reach of enemy air defense systems. These aircraft are also capable of launching weapons such as Kh-101 and Kh-102 missiles.

Military Watch Magazine also reported that the Tu-160M has exceptional flight range and endurance. The new NK-32-02 engines reduce fuel consumption and extend operational reach, making the aircraft one of the longest-range strategic bombers in the world.

Earlier, The National Interest reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no effective means of countering Russia’s supersonic Tu-160M bomber. According to its authors, Russia’s defense industry has the capacity to modernize aircraft in ways that provide additional strategic advantages.
