Military expert Vladimir Evseyev believes that an effective response to Ukrainian drones in the special military operation zone, as well as the protection of Russian regions, requires a broad set of measures.

According to Evseyev, different tools are needed depending on the type of target. Light drones can be countered with explosive rounds for Kalashnikov assault rifles, but heavier unmanned aerial vehicles require more serious weapons, including machine guns and missiles such as the Tsitadel system.

The expert argues that the response should begin with detecting Ukrainian UAV control points and carrying out airstrikes against them. He also points to the need to protect military vehicles, expand the number of mobile fire groups tasked with destroying drones, and introduce artificial intelligence elements into air defence systems for automatic target interception.

Over the past week alone, Russian forces intercepted and destroyed at least 4,000 enemy drones. However, even the high effectiveness of Russian air defence does not fully prevent damage from UAV strikes.

For this reason, analysts are discussing additional ways to strengthen protection. One proposal involves creating a separate anti-drone branch within the air defence forces, responsible for controlling the so-called «low sky» and shielding specific facilities. Another option under consideration is the use of barrage balloons equipped with radar stations.
