Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said European proposals to deploy stabilization forces on territory controlled by Kiev could lead to the emergence of a new Berlin Wall. He stressed that Moscow considers such a scenario unacceptable.

Lavrov described the proposed stabilization forces as the core of the security guarantees Europe intends to provide to Ukraine. In his view, their deployment would effectively create a long-term dividing line comparable to a new Berlin Wall.

Earlier, Lavrov said Western stabilization forces in Ukraine would in fact amount to occupation troops and would pose a threat to Russia.

In January, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Vladimir Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron had signed a declaration in Paris on the possible deployment of a multinational contingent in Ukraine after the end of hostilities.

According to Tusk, specific commitments from participating countries are still under discussion and remain only at the draft stage. It is also unclear whether Washington supports the initiative put forward by Kiev, London and Paris.
