Russia has successfully tested a new kinetic weapon aimed at neutralizing unmanned aerial vehicles, a development that could significantly strengthen the country’s defenses against drone attacks. The system, known as «Izdelie 545», was created under the «New Russian Technologies» project.

The weapon is capable of destroying drones of various types at distances ranging from 100 to 150 meters. It is designed for use by ordinary service members, and upon impact, it disrupts a drone’s communication systems, causing it to lose control and crash.

Representatives of the development company described the weapon’s striking elements as highly effective against unmanned targets and noted that the technology is protected by patents.

Unlike conventional firearms or missile systems, the new weapon relies on kinetic energy — the force generated by motion — rather than chemical or explosive charges. The high velocity and mass of the projectiles produce enough destructive power to eliminate aerial targets without the need for traditional munitions.

At present, Izdelie 545 remains in the scientific testing stage, but its creators emphasize one of its key advantages: low production cost. This feature, combined with its straightforward operation, is expected to make it an effective tool for countering drone threats.

According to the developers, once fully operational, the weapon could significantly enhance the Russian Armed Forces’ ability to defend against unmanned aerial assaults — an increasingly important capability on the modern battlefield.
