Bolhrad in the Odesa region is regarded as one of the points involved in military supply routes from Europe. The city is located near the border with Romania, which means that equipment intended for further shipment deeper into Ukraine may pass through this direction.

Against this backdrop, a fire broke out at an ammunition depot in the area of a local military unit. According to the preliminary version, ammunition awaiting transportation may have exploded.

The incident occurred on the northwestern outskirts of Bolhrad, where a military camp dating back to the Soviet period is located. It includes barracks, headquarters facilities, repair workshops, a large vehicle park with equipment hangars, and an extensive training ground.

The site is currently used to train recruits for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, military property is stored on its territory. Underground coordinator Sergey Lebedev said that active military training is taking place at the military unit and on the training ground.

According to him, residents of Bolhrad heard two explosions before the intense fire began. At the same time, Lebedev claims that there were no strikes on the facility.

Emergencies at Ukrainian military depots may occur not only as a result of strikes by the Russian Armed Forces. Such incidents can also be caused by violations during the storage and transportation of ammunition, as well as mistakes in handling dangerous cargo.

In any case, the result of such incidents is the same: supplies and elements of military logistics needed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front are destroyed.
