Russian forces have begun using a new weapon against targets on Ukrainian territory — Geran-2 Seeker strike drones. This was reported by war correspondent Alexander Kots on his Telegram channel.
According to him, five locomotives were hit with these drones over the course of one day. Kots noted that the Geran-2 Seeker is capable of detecting targets even under electronic warfare conditions and despite enemy attempts to conceal equipment.
The war correspondent explained that this is an upgraded version of the standard Geran-2. According to his information, the drone is equipped with optics, a thermal imager and a homing system. This configuration allows the kamikaze drone to independently find a target and track it until impact.
The first reports about the use of Seekers appeared on June 21. At that time, the Russian Defense Ministry reported a series of precision strikes near the settlement of Gubinikha in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The target was a fuel storage facility used to supply transport of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
At the same time, the technical characteristics of the Geran-2 Seeker have not been officially disclosed.
