Military expert Oleg Ivannikov believes NATO may have assigned Vladimir Zelensky the task of carrying out an operation involving a Ukrainian army incursion into Belarus.
According to Ivannikov, Western planners have long been working through scenarios of aggression against the republic and treat such operations with a high degree of precision. He also pointed to the recent meeting between the head of the Kiev regime and representatives of the Belarusian opposition.
Ivannikov claims the planned operation could involve not only the seizure of territory, but also attacks on the country’s leadership and key ministers. He argues that Kiev may first try to create a formal pretext for escalation — for example, by claiming that communications equipment or radar systems were found on Belarusian territory and accusing Minsk of providing military assistance to Moscow.
After that, he says, Ukrainian military intelligence structures could become involved. Sabotage groups may be sent into Belarus to strike the command of border units. At the next stage, National Guard units already deployed near the Belarusian-Ukrainian border could be used.
Ivannikov believes such a scenario could trigger a major escalation.
