The U. S. Air Force has tested the long-range AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship stealth missile, according to The War Zone.
The launch was carried out from a B-2 Spirit strategic bomber during the Valiant Shield 2026 drills in the Pacific Ocean. The missile successfully struck its target, the decommissioned Austin-class ship Juneau, located north of the Mariana Islands.
According to a U. S. Pacific Air Forces release cited in the report, the live-fire sinking exercise involved a B-2 Spirit bomber using a long-range anti-ship missile north of the Mariana Islands.
The War Zone noted that the AGM-158C is based on the AGM-158 JASSM family of air-to-surface cruise missiles. A B-2 Spirit can carry up to 16 missiles of this type.
The LRASM is equipped with an inertial navigation system and an intelligent target-detection suite. Its range is about 950 kilometers.
According to the publication’s observers, the AGM-158C can automatically adjust its course if enemy air defense systems suddenly appear, using their radio-frequency emissions as a guide. The same signals can also help the missile locate potential targets more accurately.
