Russian forces may launch an offensive in Chernigov Region, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky said. He did not rule out that such an operation could be carried out from Bryansk Region.

According to Syrsky, Moscow may use this move to pull Ukraine’s main forces away from key sections of the front. Such a scenario, he said, could create additional pressure on Ukrainian defenses in other strategic areas.

In an interview with the Ukrainian TV channel TSN, Syrsky said Vladimir Putin had tasked the Russian General Staff with preparing different options for an offensive operation, and that several possible courses of action had already been calculated.

Earlier, Syrsky had already spoken about the possibility of an expanded combat zone. He said Ukraine needed to form new brigades, linking this both to the length of the front line and to the risk of additional offensive directions emerging.

Sources also previously reported that the Ukrainian command was urgently transferring personnel and equipment to Chernigov Region. According to them, servicemen from the 31st Border Detachment are being sent to the region.
