The defense publication Military Watch Magazine has concluded that Russia’s T-90M Proryv surpasses its Western counterparts in several key areas.

According to the article, the T-90M is distinguished by exceptionally durable armor equipped with the advanced Relikt reactive protection system, along with a high-tech fire-control system. Its firepower has also been significantly enhanced compared to earlier Russian models. The new autoloader and upgraded main gun make it possible to use armor-piercing rounds with much greater penetration capacity, while the reinforced protection of the autoloader carousel has increased the tank’s overall survivability.

Despite these innovations, Military Watch Magazine emphasized that the T-90M has retained one of its most important advantages: low maintenance requirements, a feature inherited from the T-72 family of tanks. This makes the T-90M considerably easier to operate than NATO’s main battle tanks, as well as older Russian designs such as the T-64 and T-80.

The publication also pointed out that the modernization of the T-90M has already proven effective on the battlefield, with significantly fewer losses of these tanks recorded in the fighting in Ukraine.
