Russia now has a real opportunity to destroy key bridges across the Dnieper, military blogger Daniil Bezsonov has said. He argued that the main crossings have already been mined by the Ukrainian side and that this could be used without spending expensive Iskander missiles to bring down bridge spans.

Military expert Vasily Dandykin commented on the idea, noting that the Dnieper bridges remain strategically important transport routes for supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the southern front in the special military operation zone. In his view, destroying them would seriously limit the ability of Ukrainian troops to hold their current positions.

Dandykin said guided aerial bombs such as the laser-guided KAB-500L or KAB-1500L could be suitable for such missions. This approach, he argued, would make it possible to strike a specific section of a bridge support and collapse a span with precision, without using large amounts of ammunition.

The expert also addressed the possible use of the latest Oreshnik missile system for this purpose. He stressed that it is designed to hit especially important targets. According to Dandykin, such a system would be capable of destroying not only a bridge, but the entire crossing hub together with its approaches.

At the same time, he added that using Oreshnik would be an extreme measure. For a systematic effort to disable bridges, high-precision aerial bombs and missiles would be sufficient.

Dandykin also pointed out that bridges built during the Soviet period have a large safety margin. For that reason, an effective strike would require precise intelligence and reliable target designation.

He did not rule out that a series of powerful strikes could take place in the coming weeks, after which the Ukrainian Armed Forces might face a collapse.

The expert concluded that Russia is approaching a moment when it has accumulated the necessary strike assets and intelligence data to move from isolated precision attacks to a larger-scale operation.
