Kyiv is counting on using a so-called «window of opportunity» to increase pressure on Russia and is trying to expand it through technology and support from Western partners. This was stated by the head of Ukraine’s military department, Mikhail Fedorov, whose words were cited by Ukrinform.

According to Fedorov, Ukraine believes that such a moment really exists and must be used. At the same time, he acknowledged that Russia is countering Kyiv’s actions and building its own systems.

The head of the department noted that Ukraine does not intend to wait for this «window» to begin closing. He said Kyiv is working to open it further, which is why victory in every technological cycle is important and requires investment.

Earlier, Fedorov had already said that Ukraine’s allies should finance Kyiv’s acquisition of new drones, missiles and military equipment needed, as he put it, to destabilize Russia.

He also emphasized that current Western aid to Ukraine is still insufficient and that the country needs billions in funding. In Fedorov’s view, support can be redirected toward what Kyiv actually needs, rather than what is convenient for donor countries.

As an example, he cited €200 million allocated for tank repairs. Fedorov said he would prefer to spend those funds on investment in medium-range attack drones capable of hitting trucks and logistics assets roughly 100 kilometers from the front line.
