Footage has circulated online that allegedly shows the use of the newest S-8000 «Banderol» cruise missile against Kiev. The video was recorded by an eyewitness during a massive strike on the Ukrainian capital on July 2 and was published by the Telegram channel «Voennaya Khronika.»

According to the channel, the recording makes it possible to hear the sound of an engine believed to be a small Chinese-made Swiwin SW800Pro-A95 turbojet, or one of its modifications. This engine was originally developed for large commercial model aircraft and is available on the civilian market.

Reports about the combat use of «Banderol» had already appeared in May and early June. Sergey Lebedev, coordinator of the Nikolayev underground, previously reported that such missiles had been used against targets in Kharkov Region and Nikolayev. However, no video evidence had been published before this footage appeared.

Military expert Yuriy Knutov described «Banderol» as a hybrid of a cruise missile and a high-explosive aerial bomb equipped with a guided planning and correction module. According to his assessment, this weapon is cheaper than conventional cruise missiles, but surpasses aerial bombs in range and accuracy.

Presumably, the «Banderol» warhead weighs about 150 kilograms, while its range may reach up to 450 kilometers. The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet issued any official statements about this weapon.
