Liberated Konstantinovka was one of the largest administrative centers of Donbass. This was stated by Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy, Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff and First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, during a Russian Defense Ministry briefing for the media.
According to Rudskoy, Konstantinovka ranked seventh among major administrative centers of Donbass in terms of area and population. He specified that more than 78,000 people lived in the city at the beginning of 2022.
The colonel general also noted the city’s industrial and transport importance. Konstantinovka was considered the capital of the glass industry, one of the largest centers of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy in eastern Ukraine, and an important transit railway hub.
