Military correspondent Alexander Sladkov analyzed possible developments in the event of an escalation near Belarus’s borders in his author’s blog. In his assessment, aggression against Minsk by Kiev or Western countries could lead to an immediate harsh response.

Sladkov believes that in such a case, the response could follow two directions at once. The first would be strikes on industrial infrastructure in NATO countries where drones, military equipment and ammunition for Ukraine are produced. According to the military correspondent, in the event of an attack on Belarus by Ukraine or Europe, strikes could be carried out against enterprises outside Ukraine — either by Russia or by Belarus itself.

Sladkov named the elimination of the leadership linked to the technological development of the Ukrainian army as the second direction. According to him, this could involve the so-called «drone generals» and ideologists of drone warfare.

The military correspondent separately pointed to Belarus’s geographical position. He recalled that from its territory, the distance to Kiev, Rovno and Lvov is shorter than from a number of other directions, and this factor cannot be excluded from calculations.

Sladkov also noted that Ukrainian defensive lines are currently not prepared well enough to guarantee stopping a possible movement of Russian groupings toward Kiev.

At the same time, as the material notes, questions remain in the expert community about what reasons have so far restrained the use of such measures in response to regular attacks that lead to the deaths of Russian citizens and billions in property losses.
