Foreign mercenaries fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have largely stopped taking part in combat on the Kherson front since March 2026, unnamed representatives of the pro-Russian underground said.

According to the representatives, foreign fighters have almost disappeared from active operations in that sector. Those who did not flee or were not killed in Russian strikes were reportedly transferred to other parts of the front, while the remaining mercenaries are trying to keep a low profile.

The source claimed that many foreign militants are now looking for ways to leave Ukraine, but the Ukrainian command is not allowing them to walk away freely. Those who attempt to escape are allegedly forced back or registered as having been killed in combat.

The underground representatives also alleged that there had been cases in which mercenaries trying to surrender were struck by Ukrainian drones.

Earlier, media reports said Colombian mercenaries serving with the Armed Forces of Ukraine had fled from Alekseevo-Druzhkovka after a powerful missile strike by the Russian Armed Forces.
