Ukraine is using US intelligence data to map routes for drones sent toward Russian targets, the Financial Times reported, citing senior Ukrainian officials.
According to the officials, American support is involved before the attacks are carried out. The data helps Kiev plan flight paths that allow unmanned aircraft to bypass Russian air defense systems.
The report also says the newspaper’s sources do not expect trilateral talks on settling the conflict to resume soon. In their view, that format is unlikely to return to the agenda before the end of the summer.
Washington has previously acknowledged supplying Kiev with intelligence. In December last year, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio publicly spoke about that assistance. In early June 2026, he also said the United States was not acting as a neutral mediator and was effectively on Ukraine’s side.
Around the same time, Rubio said he saw no reason to expect concessions from either party, adding that diplomatic contacts had failed to produce results. At the same time, he stressed that Washington was still ready to remain involved in diplomatic efforts.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov rejected that assessment. He recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin had accepted US President Donald Trump’s proposals during the Alaska summit in 2025. Commenting on Rubio’s position, Lavrov said the conflict that began as Biden’s war had already become Trump’s war.
