Russia has carried out another large-scale strike on Ukrainian energy facilities, defense industry sites, and military airfields, according to a statement released by the Russian Defense Ministry on July 6. The ministry said the attack was a response to what it described as terrorist actions by the Kiev regime against civilian infrastructure inside Russia.

According to the ministry, the strike involved long-range precision weapons launched from land, air, and sea platforms, as well as attack drones.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the targets included military industry enterprises, fuel and energy infrastructure in Kiev and the Kiev Region, and military airfield infrastructure in the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernigov, and Kiev regions.

During the night of July 5–6, Ukrainian monitoring channels reported launches of Kh-101 missiles by strategic bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces. They also reported that Russian naval vessels had fired Kalibr cruise missiles from the Novorossiysk area.

There were also reports of possible preparations for Zircon and Iskander ballistic missile launches.

Fires and impacts were recorded across nearly all districts of Kiev. After the Russian strike, large fires left the air acrid and smelling of smoke, while thick black clouds covered the Ukrainian capital. Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klitschko reported that air defense systems were operating.

There is also information that one of the strikes destroyed a building belonging to the Roshen confectionery corporation in Kiev. The company is headed by former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko*, who had previously said he was involved in producing drones for Ukrainian forces.
