Ukrainian air defenses failed to intercept a single ballistic missile launched by Russian forces during the massive overnight strike on July 6, representatives of the Ukrainian Air Force said.

According to the Ukrainian side, the attack involved six 3M22 Zircon and Oniks hypersonic cruise missiles, 23 ballistic missiles fired from Iskander-M and S-400 systems, 33 Kh-101 cruise missiles, six Kalibr missiles and 351 attack drones.

The Ukrainian Air Force said the air assault was countered by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and drone units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

On July 6, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive precision strike on Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and fuel and energy infrastructure sites in Kiev and the Kiev Region. Military airfields in the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkassy and Chernigov regions were also hit.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said the strike was launched in response to terrorist attacks by the Kiev regime against civilian infrastructure on Russian territory.
