The Ukraine issue may lose its usual prominence at the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, while Vladimir Zelensky is likely to receive less attention than in previous years, The Telegraph reported.

According to the newspaper, this could become a serious problem for Zelensky. He is not expected to be included in the summit’s main program and is unlikely to be given a separate address before the leaders of the alliance. The author suggests that NATO has chosen not to put Ukraine at the center of the meeting in order to avoid irritating US President Donald Trump.

The mood around the summit may also be shaped by tensions between Ukraine and Poland. The Telegraph notes that this factor could influence discussions on further assistance to Kiev.

The NATO summit is scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7–8. On Tuesday, June 30, representatives of alliance member states met in Brussels, where they discussed, among other issues, the draft final declaration.

On July 5, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow should remain vigilant ahead of the NATO summit in Turkey and be prepared for possible provocations from Kiev.
